UP: Budget with outlay of Rs 4.79 lakh crore presented in state assembly

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), [India], Feb 7 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Rajesh Agarwal on Thursday presented the state budget for 2019-20 with an outlay of Rs 4.79 lakh crore. 
This is the third budget of Yogi Adityanath government. The outlay for coming fiscal year is 12 per cent higher than the current year's budget Rs 4.28 lakh crore.
The budget speech was read by the state finance minister in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
In order to develop the Metro lines and airports of the state, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has allocated Rs 175 crore for Metro rail projects in Kanpur and Agra, Rs 150 crore for the initial work of Metro rail projects in Varanasi, Meerut, Gorakhpur, Prayagraj and Jhansi besides Rs 400 crore for Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut regional rapid transit system.
An amount of Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated for development of airports in the state: Rs 800 crore for Jewar airport and Rs 200 crore for the airport in Ayodhya.
Some of the other major highlights of the project are as follows:
Rs 18,845 crore for basic education.
Rs 6,240 crore for the Pradhanmantri Avas Yojna.  
Rs 13,135 crore for development of roads under PWD and Rs 2,100 crore for construction of bridges.   
Rs 3,488 crore for implementation of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. 
Rs 3,000 crore for piped drinking water scheme in Vindhya region, Bundelkhand and some of the villages affected by low-quality water.
Rs 2,954 crore for the National Rural Drinking Water Programme and Rs 1,393 crore for National Rural Livelihood Mission.  
Rs 1,200 crore has been set aside to launch Kanya Sumangla Yojana for the welfare of girls.
Rs 910 crore for minority community students scholarships.
Rs 459 crore for modernisation of Arabic/Persian language Madrasas.
Rs 300 crore and Rs 200 crore for special programmes in Poorvanchal and Bundelkhand respectively.
Rs 300 crore for development of shrines.
Rs 247.60 crore for construction and maintenance of gaushalas in the rural areas and Rs 200 crore for the upkeep of stray cattle in urban areas.
Rs 207 crore for development and maintenance of the corridor from Ganga ghat to Kashi Vishwanath temple.
Rs 101 crore for beautification of tourist places in Ayodhya and Rs 125 crore for Braj teerth.
Rs 8 crore for Mathura Vrindavan auditorium. (ANI)
