Union Minister Giriraj Singh flags off 'Bharat in Paris' Olympic marathon in Delhi

New Delhi [India], July 14 (ANI): Union Minister Giriraj Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Manoj Tiwari flagged off the 'Bharat in Paris' Olympic marathon to create awareness about the recreational sport in Delhi on Sunday.

Speaking to ANI about the awareness run, Giriraj Singh said, "A marathon was organised to create awareness about 'Bharat in Paris Olympics.' India stands in the third position in these games."
"I want to urge all parents to motivate their children to indulge in sports in addition to academics. Nearly Rs 4,000 crores are being allocated towards promotion of sports in the country," he said.

This comes ahead of the 2024 Olympics, which will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
113 Indian athletes have qualified for the Olympics this year.
Earlier, the former Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur flagged off the campaign with a short marathon at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on June 23.
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has launched the "Bharat in Paris" campaign to create awareness and promote sports across India ahead of the Paris Olympics games.
The name of the Paris Olympic 2024 mascot is Olympic Phryge. It is based on the Phrygian cap.
"Games Wide Open" is the official slogan of the 2024 Olympics. (ANI)
