Union Min. Giriraj Singh says Congress 'bankrupted' the nation

New Delhi [India], October 26 (ANI): Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Thursday said the Congress bankrupted the whole country during its tenure, and branded the party as "debtor".

"For the people of India, demonetisation is an economic change. In the coming days, the demonetisation and the Goods and Service Tax (GST) will lay a path of improvement. Japan is a country that stood up again in 12 years after a nuclear attack, but the Congress has bankrupted the whole nation. The farmers went into debt, India's per capita income declined, economic situation turned worse. The Congress is the debtor. It must observe its own black day instead of telling others," Singh told ANI.

The Union Minister then trained his guns at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and said she was chaotic.

"Mamata Banerjee is a chaotic chief minister of this country, who does not want to go with the policies of India and supports separatists," he added.

Yesterday, Banerjee said the Trinamool Congress would observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, as 'Black Day' across the state.

On October 24, Opposition parties decided the same.

Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad told the media earlier, "Possibly, this is the first time that a decision announced by the Prime Minister had to be changed 135 times. It just shows how ill-conceived it was."

He claimed that 18 parties would be protesting in their own respective ways in all states.

On November 8, 2016, the Centre declared Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes as non-legal and introduced new Rs. 200, Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 notes. (ANI)
