New Delhi [India], September 1 (ANI): Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said on Sunday that it was a collective responsibility for the people in the judicial system to break the common perception of the "Tariq pe Tariq" culture regarding the justice system to provide the citizens of the country with ease of justice.
In his address during the 2-day National Conference of District Judiciary at Bharat Mandapam on Sunday, Meghwal said, "It is the collective responsibility of all of us present in this ceremony at Bharat Mandapam today to come out with a pledge to break the common perception of 'Tariq pe Tariq' culture regarding the justice system," referring to the perception of justice being delayed due to frequent adjournments and procedural setbacks in the judicial system.
In his speech, Meghwal highlighted the importance of the judiciary in India, calling the Supreme Court's 75-year journey a "proud moment" for the country. He further emphasised that the judiciary plays a crucial role in shaping a "Viksit Bharat," underscoring the need for a robust judicial ecosystem to support citizens across various fields and foster national development.
"The world's largest democracy is revered as the Mother of Democracy. The highest temple of justice in India, the Supreme Court's journey of completing 75 years is a very proud moment for all of us countrymen. Today, all the great personalities working at various levels of the judiciary in this complex have the same goal, the creation of 'Viksit Bharat'. A good ecosystem of the judicial system should be available to the citizens working in various fields so that they can devote their individual and collective potential to nation-building," he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the two-day National Conference of District Judiciary and unveiled the stamp and coin commemorating 75 years of the establishment of the Supreme Court of India.
Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud also presented a memento to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the event.
The two-day conference, organised by the Supreme Court of India on August 31 and September 1, will host five working sessions that will deliberate and discuss issues related to district judiciary, such as infrastructure and human resources, inclusive courtrooms for all, judicial security and judicial wellness, case management and judicial training.
