Under SVEEP program, Daman district motivates restaurants to give discounts to those who vote

Daman district has conducted activities and taken initiatives under SVEEP to create awareness and motivate people to cast votes in the Lok Sabha poll.

Daman (Daman and Diu) [India], May 5 (ANI): Daman district has conducted activities and taken initiatives under SVEEP to create awareness and motivate people to cast votes in the Lok Sabha poll.
One such initiative is to motivate restaurants and shopping forums to give a discount to those people who have exercised their democratic right, said Sanjam Singh Chief Officer Daman Municipal Council.
In an interaction with ANI, Sanjam Singh said that they have conducted various activities and taken initiatives under SVEEP, which is a program by the Election Commission under which the administration makes people aware to exercise their voting rights.
Singh said that they have done a unique thing by motivating all the hotels, and all the restaurants across the district to give discounts to people who have voted on the poll day, especially the first-time voters adding that if someone shows a recently published voter ID card and his voter mark, he would get a good discount in almost all major hotels and restaurants across the district.
He also said that the administration has motivated petrol pump owners to give discounts on their products and also motivated supermarkets to give discounts to the people who are casting their votes.
He also informed about various activities which include stickers on all the e-commerce products that are going through here. Stickers have quotes like voting days on May 7, Voting is a right. Voting is a responsibility.
Under SVEEP they have developed a distinctive campaign titled "Mera Vote Meri Shakti Hai, Mera Vote Deshbhakti Hai!" for voter awareness, he said.
They have launched a unique SVEEP anthem along with comprehensive SVEEP kits, which included t-shirts, caps, and badges, as part of a broader effort to engage young voters in Daman. They have also launched the official SVEEP mascot, "Voter Didi".
"Collaborated with some of the most popular social media influencers in Daman to effectively raise voter awareness among young and first-time voters", Singh said.
He also shared about holding a food and music festival in Daman, specifically aimed at promoting general voter awareness.
The Lok Sabha poll in Daman and Diu is scheduled for May 7. (ANI)
