Agartala (Tripura) [India], November 12 (ANI): Emphasising in making education affordable to all, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) initiative an initiative has been taken to build 14 hostels across 6 districts in Tripura with an expenditure of Rs. 37.6 crore.
In a post on X, CM Manik Saha said, "Our government is committed to making education accessible to all including Janajati students, by developing modern facilities. PM Narendra Modi Ji's PM-JANMAN initiative also focuses on developing Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs)."
CM Saha laid the foundation stones for 10 hostels in 6 blocks across 4 districts on Monday.
"Under this scheme, an initiative has been taken to build 14 hostels across 6 districts in Tripura with an expenditure of Rs. 37.6 crore. Among them, today virtually laid the foundation stones for 10 hostels (6 boys, 4 girls) in 6 blocks across 4 districts, worth Rs. 26.6 crores, from Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala," he further said.
In line with the Prime Minister's efforts towards the vision of Antyodaya to empower the last person at the last mile, PM-JANMAN was launched for the socio-economic welfare of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) on November 15, 2023, on the occasion of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
PM-JANMAN, with a budget of approximately Rs 24,000 crore, focuses on 11 critical interventions through nine ministries and is aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the PVTGs by saturating PVTG households and habitations with basic facilities such as safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition, electricity, road and telecom connectivity, and sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The comprehensive IEC campaign has started initially in 100 districts, covering approximately 500 blocks and 15,000 PVTGs habitations across 18 states and the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In phase II, it will cover remaining districts.
This campaign is an effort aimed at saturating PVTGs families with individual entitlements and habitations with basic facilities, by making these tribal communities aware about their entitlements. This initiative will ensure to cover every PVTGs household that has remained unreached because of distance, lack of road and digital connectivity and will provide facilities at their doorstep. (ANI)
