Bongaigaon (Assam) [India], February 9 (ANI): All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Chief and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal on Friday said that, the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) is anti-Quran, anti-Islam and his party will oppose it.
"We will oppose UCC. UCC is anti-Quran, anti-Hadees, anti-Islam, anti-Religion, anti-Hindu, anti-Christian and it is against all religions, communities. We will oppose it. Whatever the government has to do they will do and whatever we have to do we will do," Badruddin Ajmal said.
The AIUDF MP on Friday attended a programme held at Balapara area near Jogighopa in Bongaigaon district.
Talking about the INDI alliance, the AIUDF MP said that, where is the INDI alliance now?
"I told about it one year ago that this will no longer. The alliance has finished in Assam and in Delhi also. Mamata Banerjee has sidelined herself and even AAP. Soon you will see Akhilesh Yadav will also sideline from INDI alliance. There is no opposition unity in Assam, all are finished," Badruddin Ajmal said.
Earlier, Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill was passed in the Uttarakhand assembly with a comfortable majority during a special session.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, during the debate on the Uniform Civil Code, said on Wednesday that the state legislature is going to create history with the passing of the Uniform Civil Code and that every citizen of the state is filled with pride.
The bill contains the laws relating to marriage, divorce, succession, live-in relationships, and related matters. Among the many proposals, the Uniform Civil Code Bill makes it compulsory for live-in relationships to be registered under the law.
Once the proposed UCC Bill is in place, "live-in relationships" will have to get registered under the law within 1 month from the "date of entering into the relationship." (ANI)
