Two arrested on charges of rape

According to an official statement from the Chief Minister's office, "sacred land of the Ganga River, Yamuna River, the Char Dham, Adi Kailash and several revered Shakti Peeths, Uttarakhand has long been a center of faith for Sanatan followers across the world. In this context, the state government is making efforts to promote Uttarakhand as a major hub for religious and spiritual tourism and pilgrimage, which is also expected to boost economic activities in the state."

The application has been filed by the daughter of the deceased, who is also the Unnao rape survivor. She has sought enhancement of the 10-year sentence awarded to Sengar and other convicts.

Addressing a public event in the national capital, the Prime Minister said the "liberation" from the "Aapda" government a year ago was essential for the city's development.

The order was passed by Principal District and Sessions Judge (North-East), Karkardooma Courts, Sanjay Sharma, who upheld the trial court's decision rejecting the woman's application for interim maintenance. The court found no illegality in the earlier order and declined to interfere with it.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Saturday acquitted rape convict and Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati's murder case, the self-styled godman's lawyer confirmed.

A 56-year-old Booth Level Officer (BLO) from Uttar Pradesh's Kaushambi district was found dead in the Yamuna River under suspicious circumstances, days after he was reported missing, police said.

Prajwal Revanna, son of JD(S) MLA H D Revanna, was jailed in connection with rape charges. Uday alleged that the case stemmed from internal family rivalry and political conspiracy within the JD(S). Claiming a political vendetta, Uday said the former MP was targeted after Kumaraswamy's son, Nikhil Kumaraswamy, lost the elections.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kushwaha, authorities received information about the incident at around 4:15 am. The accident involved a van travelling from Delhi to Dholpur in Rajasthan and a double-decker bus heading from Noida to Gorakhpur.

Angul Superintendent of Police (SP) Rahul Jain confirmed that a specialized team, including the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) unit and a dog squad, processed the crime scene. Based on allegations from the victim's family, authorities registered an FIR under sections relating to rape and murder.

Odisha Police have arrested two persons in connection with the rape and murder of a woman in Paradip, Jagatsinghpur Superintendent of Police Ankit Verma said.
