BJP leaders on Wednesday hit back at Congress over its spokesperson Supriya Shrinate's allegation that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had resorted to artificial intelligence to show good roads in Assam and said the "entire Cong ecosystem has so much contempt for Assam" and the people of state "will remember this insult".

"The opposition has brought a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker. Rahul Gandhi had the opportunity to speak for as long as he wanted, as time was allotted for his party. However, they lack facts, arguments, and any substantial basis. Today, the opposition stands completely exposed. The nation has seen how some members dance on tables, tear up papers and throw them at the Speaker, use pepper spray, and bring banners into the House. Such members should naturally be suspended according to the rules and should not be given a chance to speak," he said.

"The Election Commission is a constitutional body. Conducting the SIR process is their right. What do these people want? Do they want to win by using the fake votes of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, infiltrators, the deceased, and those with double entries? This cannot happen. The people of Bengal have the right to the resources of Bengal, not the infiltrators and Bangladeshis," he said.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Syeed Uddin (26), Mohd Tajuddin (31), Mohd Younis (25), and MD Ayub (24). Police said that Uddin had worked for a call centre in Dubai, and contacted other members to acquire some SIM cards.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Centre, all State governments and institutions receiving public funds to dissociate the chairperson of the NCERT social science curriculum, Professor Michel Danino, along with his two associate members, from any role in preparing school curriculum or finalising textbooks for the next generation over the controversial sub-chapter titled "Corruption in the Judiciary" in the Class 8 NCERT Social Science textbook.
