Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 30 (ANI): The Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the revered 51 Shakti Pithas is gearing up for the Diwali celebrations and being decorated to illuminate the festival fervour and welcoming lakhs of devotees.
BJP MLA Abhishek Roy, who is also the Chairman of the Matabari Puja Committee, extended the wishes of Diwali and elaborated the details of preparations for this year's festivities.
"This year, we are enhancing the lighting decorations from Udaipur to Matabari, making the Matabari area beautifully illuminated. Both the fair and the Puja Aarti will be live-streamed, and displays from the ICA department will be expanded across the state so that everyone can witness the worship at the Tripura Sundari Temple," he said.
"In Tripura, we celebrate Kali Puja during this occasion, and the Mata Tripura Sundari Devi Temple will also be hosting rituals. The fair will begin on October 31st and continue for three days," Roy said.
The BJP leader further informed that a 39-hour cultural program is planned, which will feature artists from outside Tripura too. Chief Minister Manik Saha will inaugurate the fair on Thursday.
"A 39-hour cultural program is planned, featuring artists from outside the state as well. The fair will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Manik Saha at 5 pm on October 31 along with other ministers, and the Mangal arati will be held at the ghat. The fair committee and police administration will ensure strict monitoring to prevent any untoward incidents. Extra train services have been arranged for the fair," Roy said.
Priest Tanmoy Chakraborty also spoke on the Diwali celebrations and gave details of the rituals and worship timings.
"On October 31, Diwali, the temple will open after the Mangala Aarti at 4.30 am. The goddess worship will begin at 10.00 am after decorating her beautifully. The rituals will follow the same traditions as they have for years, with no changes made. The worship will continue as it has since the time of Maharaja Dhanya Manikya in 1500 AD. At 1.30 pm, an offering of food will be made to the goddess," he said.
Earlier this week, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha visited the homes of three potters in Kumar Para, a locality renowned for its skilled artisans who create earthen lamps. The visit coincided with the potters ramping up production ahead of Deepawali, a period when traditional earthen lamps are in high demand.
During his visit, CM Saha encouraged the potters and purchased lamps for his own Deepawali celebrations, emphasizing the importance of supporting local artisans.
As Deepawali approaches, Saha conveyed his best wishes to the artisans and the people of Tripura, reaffirming his commitment to the vision of "One Tripura, One India, One Great India." (ANI)
