Agartala (Tripura) [India], November 4 (ANI): In response to the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata, Tripura Health Department has decided to install CCTV cameras in hospitals across the state to improve security and monitoring. This measure aims to enhance safety and prevent any similar incidents in the future.
As part of this initiative, 47 CCTV cameras are currently being installed at Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital. The cameras will cover critical areas such as the outdoor and indoor departments, OPD, emergency unit, and administrative sections.
This effort has been welcomed by the local community, including former headmaster Gopal Chakraborty, who expressed support for the Health Department's proactive step to ensure a safer environment for both patients and staff.
Notably, on August 9, a second-year medical student was found dead in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The incident has ignited protests across West Bengal, with doctors nationwide expressing their solidarity with the junior doctors in Kolkata.
Later, a civic volunteer of Kolkata Police was arrested in connection with the crime the next day. The Calcutta High Court handed over the case to the CBI.
After that, a debate started across the nation on safety and security measures inside the hospitals in India. (ANI)
