Agartala (Tripura) [India], January 10 (ANI): To facilitate local-level development and effective governance, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Tuesday that the current state government has decided to establish 110 Chief Minister Model Villages in the state.

The Chief Minister, who also oversees the Panchayat Department, provided this information in response to a question raised by MLA Brishketu Debbarma during the question and answer session of the 13th Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

CM Saha said that in the fiscal year 2021-22, a special project named Chief Minister's Model Village was launched, selecting one village from each of the 55 assembly constituencies in the state. The duration of this project extends until the 2023-24 financial year.

"Several development projects have already been completed under this initiative, with many still in progress. The actual status of villages will be verified upon the completion of the undertaken works, assessing whether the main objectives of the model village plan have been achieved," said CM Saha.

He emphasised the importance given to the implementation of developmental work in Chief Minister Model Villages, including initiatives for 100 per cent vaccination of children, the establishment and maintenance of Anganwadi centres, and ensuring 100 per cent enrollment of children in schools and Anganwadi centres.

"The government is also working on providing purified drinking water, distributing Ayushman Bharat cards, and conducting programmes like Proti Ghore Sushasan and Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, offering administrative facilities such as the issuance of ST certificates, SC certificates, and marriage certificates to citizens," he said.

The Chief Minister also announced that the present government has decided to establish an additional 110 Chief Minister Model Villages in the state.

He mentioned that all district magistrates have been instructed to submit the names of two Gramme Panchayats and village committees to the Panchayat Office in consultation and approval with the MLAs in their respective districts.

"A budget provision of Rs 9,09,090 for the fiscal year 2021-22 and Rs. 3,54,545 for 2022-23 has been sub-allocated to each of the initially identified 55 model villages. For the fiscal year 2023-24, a total of 110 GP/VC will be identified as proposed model villages, and the sanctioned amount from the Finance Department will be allocated to the concerned GP/VC. He added that an amount of Rs. 8.00 crore has been allocated in the budget estimate for FY 2023-24 of the department," he added.
