Agartala (Tripura) [India], April 25 (ANI): Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu took strides in raising awareness about malaria by commemorating World Malaria Day at the Raj Bhavan, underscoring the state's commitment to combatting this life-threatening disease.
In a proactive initiative, Governor Nallu spearheaded a series of events aimed at educating citizens about the prevention and control of malaria. The programme was organised by the State Health and Family Welfare Society, putting light on the importance of early diagnosis, treatment, and preventive measures.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Nallu emphasised the pivotal role of collective action in eradicating malaria. He stressed the need for sustained efforts from all stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare professionals, civil society organisations, and the public, to achieve the goal of a malaria-free Tripura.
Furthermore, Governor Nallu highlighted the state government's robust measures to curb malaria transmission, including the distribution of insecticide-treated bed nets, indoor residual spraying, and intensified surveillance and monitoring systems. He reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring accessible and affordable healthcare services to every citizen, particularly those in remote and vulnerable communities.
The event also witnessed the participation of healthcare experts, researchers, and representatives from non-governmental organisations, fostering dialogue and collaboration towards innovative strategies for malaria control and elimination.
In his closing remarks, Governor Nallu called for renewed dedication and solidarity in the fight against malaria, urging individuals to adopt preventive practices such as proper sanitation, use of mosquito repellents, and timely medical intervention.
Notably, World Malaria Day, observed annually on April 25, serves as a global platform to raise awareness and mobilise support for malaria prevention and control initiatives.

Nallu said, "The Indian government has taken the initiative to eradicate Malaria from all states of our country. In Tripura, the government has set a target of 2027 to completely eradicate Malaria from Tripura. I would like to make all the people of Tripura aware, that the places where there are chances of mosquito breeding, the places must be neat and cleaned properly."
"We must keep noticing such places where there is stored water because of which mosquitoes are breeding,"
"People can inform the government and get help in mosquito eradication. Those who are already suffering from malaria must take proper medicine and take precautions till the complete eradication of Malaria takes place," he concluded. (ANI)
