Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 4 (ANI): In a bid to accelerate the transition towards renewable energy sources and enhance electricity services in the state of Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha attended a high-profile stakeholder workshop on the Energy Transition.
During the inaugural session, Dr Manik Saha addressed the delegates and highlighted the government's relentless efforts to steer the renewable energy sector in the right direction, ultimately improving overall electricity services in the state.
Chief Minister Manik Saha said, "The workshop provided a crucial platform for Tripura to strategize and collaborate with national and international experts to drive the state's energy transition agenda forward. With ambitious goals and a commitment to renewable energy, Tripura aims to play a significant role in achieving India's energy production targets."
The workshop provided a platform for discussions on critical aspects such as energy supply, capacity, storage, and other important issues.
Tripura Power minister Ratan Lal Nath was also present to grace the seminar and said, "Tripura has enough natural resources to overcome the hazards or hassles that may come in this PM's mission of converting to nonconventional energy by 2030."
One of the key highlights of the workshop was the focus on ensuring an adequate supply of electricity ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja festival, a significant event in the state's calendar. The workshop aimed to find innovative solutions and strategies to meet the electricity demands during this festive season.
Abhisekh Singh, the Secretary of Power in the Government of Tripura, spoke about the workshop's significance in the context of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission to achieve 500 gigawatts of power production by 2030.
Singh said, "Tripura is committed to contributing to this national goal and harnessing available resources in the state, including solar energy, small hydropower projects, bioenergy, and green hydrogen."
The workshop attracted experts from various fields and countries, including Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Peru, who shared their expertise on renewable energy. The day-long seminar was designed to facilitate discussions and collaborations to advance power production and transition from conventional to non-conventional energy sources.
Debasish Sarkar, Managing Director of TSECL, highlighted Tripura's current renewable energy contribution of 3% and revealed plans to increase it to 26% by 2030, aligning with the national objective. The challenges associated with converting conventional energy sources to non-conventional ones were among the main topics discussed during the seminar.
The event, organized by the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank, took place at the Hotel Polo Tower in Agartala today.
The event concluded with a sense of optimism and a shared vision of a greener and more sustainable energy future for Tripura. (ANI)
