Tripura CM attends award ceremony organised for welfare of Mog students in Agartala

The award distribution program is organised by the Society for Welfare of the Mog Students (SWMS). Every year, this society felicitates the meritorious students to appreciate them and encourage them towards building their careers.

Agartala (Tripura) [India], October 15 (ANI): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday attended the 17th Merit Award and Freshers Meet 2023, an award distribution program organised for the welfare of the students from the Mog community in Agartala.
The award distribution program is organised by the Society for Welfare of the Mog Students (SWMS).
Every year, this society felicitates the meritorious students to appreciate them and encourage them towards building their careers.
Mogs are the Arakan tribe and migrated to Tripura through the Chittagong Hill Tracts. By religion they are Buddhist.
CM Saha on Saturday inaugurated the super specialities, newly renovated paediatric and geriatric ward in the Govind Ballabh Pant (GBP) Hospital in Agartala.
CM Saha said, "The state government is fervently committed to bolstering healthcare services, ensuring access to high-quality medical care for all citizens".
"A slew of initiatives has been undertaken to upgrade healthcare infrastructure, making healthcare services more accessible and efficient to the public", added Saha.
CM Saha made this announcement while inaugurating the 63rd Foundation Day of GBP Hospital.
The foundation day celebration took place at KLS Auditorium, GPB, and marked a significant occasion in the state's healthcare sector. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister unveiled a range of new services, including a state-of-the-art super-speciality building and a dedicated medicine ward for women.
Reflecting on the hospital's historical significance, Saha highlighted the pivotal role played by GBP hospital during the 1971 liberation war.
CM Saha said that over the years, GBP Hospital has evolved into a full-fledged medical college with an expanded range of services.
"Today, GBP Hospital's healthcare services rival those of the corporate sector in terms of quality and accessibility", said CM Saha.
The Department of Health has been directed to further enhance the quality of healthcare services provided by GBP Hospital.
The state government has prioritized healthcare system development, and it is actively working towards achieving this goal.
He further said, "The 'Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana' is a significant healthcare initiative, that provides insurance coverage of up to 5 lakhs per annum for beneficiaries". (ANI)
