Tripua: Police recover 400 bottles brown sugar, more than Rs 1 lakh cash in major drug bust

During the raid late night on Tuesday, 400 bottles of brown sugar, approximately 300 empty vials, and cash amounting to Rs 125,510 were recovered, police said.

Agartala (Tripura) [India], May 30 (ANI): In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the NCC Police Station, led by Inspector Sushanta Deb, successfully conducted a raid in Tripura's Goalabasti area. Acting on a reliable tip-off, the police were able to apprehend five individuals, including two women, who were involved in the illicit drug trade.
During the raid late night on Tuesday, 400 bottles of brown sugar, approximately 300 empty vials, and cash amounting to Rs 125,510 were recovered, police said.
"We received credible information regarding drug dealings in Goalabasti and acted swiftly to address the situation," Inspector Deb stated.
"The arrest of these individuals and the recovery of such a large quantity of brown sugar is a significant achievement in our fight against drug trafficking," he added.
The five suspects were presented in court on Wednesday. The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, including Sections 21D, 25, 27 (A), and 29.
"From a reliable source, we got information yesterday night that in the Goalabasti area, drug dealers are dealing something. Accordingly, we raided the place. We were successful in arresting five people, including two women. We were successful in recovering 400 bottles of brown sugar, near about 300 empty vials and cash of Rs 125510. We will produce all the five people in court today. We have taken a case under the NDPS act, Section 21 D, 25, 27 (A) and 29 of the NDPS Act," Deb said.
The police urged citizens to continue providing information on illegal activities to help create a safer environment for all.
Earlier on Tuesday evening, police apprehended five passengers travelling from Dharmanagar to Silchar on an interstate bus, seizing a significant quantity of cannabis. The bus was intercepted and searched by police led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Samaresh Das near the Churaibari police station at the Tripura border.
"The search operation revealed multiple small packets of cannabis found with five passengers hailing from Bihar. The confiscated cannabis, weighing a total of seven kilograms, is estimated to have a black market value of approximately one lakh rupees," Das said. (ANI)
