New Delhi [India], September 15 (ANI): Amid growing instabilities in the region, top commanders of the Indian Navy would review the security scenario in and around the country from Tuesday.
The meeting of the Indian Navy top brass comes soon after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh's call to the defence forces to be ready for the unexpected at the recently held Joint Commanders' Conference in Lucknow.
The top commanders would be meeting in the new Naval Headquarters in the national capital from September 17 for four days, defence officials said.
The conference would be the first one to be held after Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi took over as the Chief of Naval Staff.
The emerging security situation in the region due to the regime change in Bangladesh and the growing hold of extremist radical groups there may come up for discussion at the meeting.
The growing Chinese activities and support to Pakistan in terms of military hardware has also been a key concern for security brass.
The top navy officers are also expected to take up the issue of creation of new theater commands for discussion.
The presentations at the Joint Commanders Conference were done by different services with participation from all attendees.
The Navy holds its commander's conference twice a year, and here all senior officers give their inputs and presentations.
Admiral Tripathi has also given clear instructions to all commanders to maintain high operational preparedness at all times.
The force is also going to review the operations in the Gulf of Aden, where it achieved a lot of success in the early part of the year against pirates and drone attacks.
The force is also moving fast on the path of modernisation and is looking to answer its shortage of underwater assets like submarines in a big way in the next couple of years.
The force has achieved big success in nuclear-powered submarines with the induction of the INS Arighaat and planned induction of the INS Aridaman in the next few months. (ANI)
