"Our 41 brave workers have emerged victorious today after 17 days, overcoming the uncertainty, darkness and bitter cold of the tunnel under construction in Uttarakhand," CM Soren wrote in a post on 'X'.
"Salute to all your bravery and courage. The day this accident happened was Diwali, but today is Diwali for your family. I also salute the neutral faith and prayers of your family and all the countrymen. Heartfelt thanks to all the teams involved in carrying out this historic and courageous campaign", he added.
The Jharkhand CM further said that the role of any worker in the construction of the country cannot be ignored.
"The role of any worker in the construction of the country cannot be ignored. Nature and the wheel of time are repeatedly telling us that worker safety and welfare should play an important role in our intentions and policies," he said.
The nation breathed a sigh of relief after all 41 workers trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel were rescued safe and sound after 16 days of tireless efforts by the rescuers.
Meanwhile, 15 of the 41 rescued workers belong to Jharkhand. Earlier, the Jharkhand government announced that it would airlift the state workers.
The 15 workers belong to Giridih, Ranchi, East Singhhum, and Khunti districts of Jharkhand.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the bravery and determination of rescuers involved in the Silkyara tunnel operation, saying that they have given new life to the labourers, who were trapped in the tunnel for the last 16 days, adding that the mission has set an "example of humanity and teamwork."
PM Modi took to X and said, "The success of the rescue operation of our labourer brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional. I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience are inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health."
"It is a matter of great satisfaction that, after a long wait, these friends of ours will now meet their loved ones. The patience and courage that all these families have shown in this challenging time cannot be appreciated enough, PM Modi added.
