New Delhi [India], September 15 (ANI): AAP leaders Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi convened a press conference on Sunday to talk about the announcement of Arvind Kejriwal to resign from the Chief Minister's post after two days.
Disputing the numerous allegations of the BJP on AAP leaders, AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "Arvind Kejriwal had said in the party office that for the past two years BJP had been mudslinging the leaders of AAP. They (AAP) are thieves, are dishonest, have done corruption. But after 2 long years of investigation; ED, CBI has not even started a trial on these allegations, this is what the Supreme Court is saying. When bail was given to Arvind Kejriwal, SC said that even today CBI is like a 'caged parrot'. The agency is working to keep Kejriwal in jail, and when a trial will be starting, no one knows. So keeping that in mind, Arvind Kejriwal has said that despite me getting bail from the Supreme Court, the janta adalat (people's court) is there, I will go to the janta's adalat and give an agni pariksha (trial by fire)."
Bharadwaj further said that Kejriwal might be the only CM in the world to have resigned while asking people to vote for him only if he is honest. "In the whole world, he might be the only CM who has asked people to vote for him only if he is honest, otherwise not to vote for him, that too after resigning from his post. That person is taking such a big risk to his whole career," he said.
AAP leader Atishi called Sunday a 'historic day' in India's politics. "In this country's political history, the netas of political parties are seen with suspicion always, that they might have done corruption. But there is not one neta in the country's history who has asked for votes by telling people to only vote for him if he is honest, otherwise not to vote for him. To understand the announcement of CM Arvind Kejriwal, we need to understand Arvind Kejriwal the person." she said.
"Kejriwal ji is such a person that he started a political party against corruption, and after the new party had won the election and he became the Chief Minister, he only resigned from his post because he couldn't bring the anti-corruption bill that he had promised. If there is one thing that Arvind Kejriwal cannot tolerate, then it is corruption and dishonesty," she added.
Earlier, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday that he would resign from the position of Chief Minister after two days and won't sit on the chair of CM until the public of Delhi declares him "honest." He also asked for early polls in Delhi, to be held along with the Maharashtra Assembly polls. (ANI)
