TN: Devotees take holy dip in Rameswaram's Agnitheertham on 'Aadi Amavasya'

The Sri Lankan Navy detained 22 Tamil Nadu fishermen and seized four fishing boats in two separate incidents on Wednesday, triggering unrest among the fishing community, according to the Vice President of the National Fishermen Association, CR Senthilvel.

Prayagraj Divisional Commissioner Soumya Agarwal on Sunday emphasised that three crore devotees have already taken a holy dip during the Magh Mela on the auspicious occasion of Magh Mela.

Flower petals were showered on the devotees who arrived for a 'snaan' at the Sangam in Prayagraj on the occassion of Mauni Amavasya during the ongoing Magh Mela.

Vadra, in a post on X, extended warm greetings on the occasion. "Heartfelt greetings to all of you on the sacred festival of Mauni Amavasya, dedicated to austerity, sacrifice, meditation, and charity," she wrote. She further expressed her hopes and prayers for everyone's well-being in her post with a graphic wishing the festival.

"On the sacred occasion of the great festival of faith, Mauni Amavasya, a heartfelt welcome to all the revered Akharas, Dharmacharyas, saints, sadhaks, kalpavasis, and devotees who have graced the holy Sangam for the sacred bath," he wrote in the post.
