TB Jayachandra

Tumkur (Karnataka) [India], Nov 9 (ANI): Raking up Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "burn me alive" statement he made during demonetisation, Congress leader and former Karnataka Law Minister TB Jayachandra on Friday said the time has come to implement the former's remark.
Speaking to media, Jayachandra asked the Prime Minister to quit the post, if he has any self-respect.
"Prime Minister Modi had said (during demonetisation) that 'give me 15 days or you can burn me alive.' Now the time has come to do exactly that. If he has any self-respect, then he should quit and go," he said.
In 2016, Prime Minister Modi turned emotional during a speech in Goa when he appealed to the people to give him 50 days to end their hardship they had been facing following demonetisation decision.
"We started Jan Dhan accounts. When I came up with this scheme, I was mocked in Parliament... Even if you burn Modi alive, Modi does not get scared," he had reportedly said.
On November 8, 2016, the Centre had declared Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes as non-legal and introduced new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes. Since then, various Opposition parties have been highly critical of the Centre's move.(ANI)
