Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], October 15 (ANI): Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo welcomed the announcement of election schedule for Jharkhand and said that Election Commission has provided a respite to the people by deciding to conduct the polling in two phases.
Speaking to ANI, Deo urged the people to "throw out the autocratic, corrupt and anti-people government" from Jharkhand.
He also appealed to the people of Jharkhand to come in large numbers to cast their vote.
"We welcome the announcement by EC. Instead of a long election in phases, the Election Commission will be going to do it in two phases, which is a respite for the people of Jharkhand. 2.6 crore people will be voting for the next government of Jharkhand. We appeal to people to come out in large numbers and throw out this autocratic, corrupt and anti-people government from this state," Deo said.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, announced that assembly elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20 and that in Maharashtra the assembly polls will take place on November 20.
The term of the Jharkhand assembly will end on January 5, 2025, with elections scheduled in 81 constituencies in the state.
The key contenders in the Maharashtra elections are the ruling Mahayuti Alliance, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition, comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress, where these parties will contest in 288 seats in the state.
