Medak (Telangana) [India], May 28 (ANI): A three-year-old boy who fell into an open borewell was found dead on Thursday in the Medak district of Telangana after 10 hours of the rescue operation.
Around 5 pm on Wednesday, the three-year-old boy Sai Vardhan had accidentally slipped into the 120- feet borewell in an agricultural field located in the Papannapet Mandal of the district when he was walking with his grandfather and father. The police and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel reached the spot to rescue the boy.
"As part of rescue efforts, a parallel trench was dug along the borewell hole with the help of earth excavating machines and oxygen were supplied into it, but the efforts went in vain as the boy's body was found stuck at a depth of around 25 feet, The body was retrieved at around 4 am after a nearly 10 hours-long rescue operation involving different agencies," officials said to ANI.
Chandana Deepti, Medak District Superintendent of Police said, "He died a while before we evacuated him. It is most likely due to the mud that covered him from the top sealing an interrupting the necessary oxygen supply to the boy."

The officials have shifted the body of the child to Medak hospital.

Upon further investigation, the police discovered that the borewell into which the child fell was one among the three dug by the family since Tuesday night who was trying to find water for their fields. But none of them yielded any water.
K Dharma Reddy, Collector Medak said, "The family dug these borewells without permission. Following which, necessary action will be taken against them."

Adding to this information, Padma Devender Reddy, MLA Medak said, "The owners should have closed the waste borewell after not finding the water for their fields as the Chief Minister has strictly ordered to close all the waste bores under the Palle Pragathi Programme. It is very sad that this incident has occurred." (ANI)
