Three Naxals surrender before security forces in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district

Japan Embassy's Minister for Political Affairs, Abe Noriaki, paid a courtesy call on Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at the Chief Minister's office in Vidhan Sabha premises on Monday.

Speaking in Hyderabad during a surrender programme where 130 Maoists laid down arms, Reddy said the government believes change can be achieved through democratic means rather than violence.

"Why don't you protest when atrocities are committed against tribals? Why don't you protest when it happens in Madhya Pradesh or Chhattisgarh? First, do something for them, then say anything. Don't play politics at the time of the election, as per the BJP's advice," Banerjee said.

"130 cadres of the CPI (Maoist) party surrendered today. They handed over 124 weapons to the police, including INSAS and AK-47 rifles. All these weapons were looted from the police force. This is a major success for the government and the Telangana Police Force," Reddy said.

As many as 130 Maoists surrendered along with 124 sophisticated weapons before the government in the presence of the Chief Minister at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad on Saturday.

While the government frames the move as a pragmatic victory for energy security amid the escalating West Asia conflict, the Opposition argues it exposes a newfound Indian dependency on Washington's "permission." The ruling BJP party hails this as a "diplomatic win" and a success of PM Modi's strategic oil diplomacy, while the opposition Congress party slams it as "strategic surrender" and "American blackmail."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday reaffirmed that the security forces will fulfil the resolve of eradicating Naxalism from the country by March 31, 2026.
