Three commuters get stuck in lift at Barakhamba MS, later rescued

New Delhi [India] October 14 (ANI): In an incidence of jamming of a lift at Delhi's Barakhamba Metro Station on Saturday evening around 5 p.m., three passengers got stuck for about an hour. They were, however, later rescued.

An immediate rescue was taken up by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials to safely take them out from the lift which got stuck between Ground and Concourse level.

The problem occurred due to the rope coming out of the groove of the pulley resulting in jamming of the motor of the lift.

The General Manager (Electrical), in-charge of maintenance, rushed to the site and got the doors of the lift opened to provide ventilation and water was given to the three middle aged passengers.

The rope was then cut to restore functionality of the lift and all passengers were taken out safely by the DMRC staff.

Fire service and other agencies were also present on the spot to assist, in case required.

"The lift was stuck due to some problem in the motor which lead to the entanglement of cables," the Fire Station Officer told ANI. (ANI)
