"This year's theme focuses on Cyber Security": Bihar Chief Secretary as Police Week commences

Patna (Bihar) [India], February 22 (ANI): Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena said on Saturday that the theme of the Bihar Police Week for 2025 is focused on Cyber Security in which the officials will be briefed on Cyber laws.
"Today marked the inauguration of the Bihar Police Week, which will conclude on the 27th. The event saw all 1200 police stations in the state, along with districts and subdivisions, connected via video conferencing. During this program, discussions were held on the achievements of the police over the past 20 years, and strategies were developed to address the challenges the state will face going forward," Meena said while speaking to the media.
"This year's theme focuses on Cyber Security. Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and a technical team are present for in-depth discussions over the next two days on how to strengthen the police force in terms of cyber security. The development of police infrastructure in the state, along with future plans, will also be discussed," he added.
The Bihar Chief Secretary also highlighted that all officials will be briefed on cyber laws and how to investigate cybercrimes.
"The technical team will provide detailed information to help officers conduct thorough investigations in the coming years," he added.
Earlier in the day, Amrit Meena addressed the gathering in Patna and said that Bihar Police Week plays a significant role in further empowering the police force.
"In 2005, the state had 42,000 police personnel, but today, Bihar has 2,27,000 police officers. Additionally, there are now 29,000 female police officers in the state, and 15% of police station in-charges are women," he highlighted.
"In 2005, Bihar had only 1,000 police vehicles, but now the police force has 11,000 vehicles. Young people in Bihar are now investing in new entrepreneurial sectors within the state, and many who had previously left Bihar for business opportunities are now returning. There are plans to implement further changes in Bihar Police soon, and the state government is committed to ensuring that there will be no shortage of funds to strengthen law and order," the Chief Secretary added.
Amrit Lal Meena also stressed that since 2016, the state has successfully implemented a stringent alcohol prohibition law.
"The state also aims to resolve minor disputes through Gram Kachahri (village courts). The government is also focusing on crime prevention through the installation of CCTV cameras. All district magistrates in Bihar have been instructed to install CCTV cameras in urban areas, and CCTV cameras will also be set up at the Panchayat level. Drug abuse has emerged as a significant issue, with more and more youth becoming involved," he said. (ANI)
