New Delhi [India], November 23 (ANI): BJP leader Prakash Javadekar on Saturday lauded the Mahayuti as the alliance is expected to form the government in Maharashtra, as per current trends by the Election Commission.
Javadekar said that the people of Maharashtra have reposed their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and that the state voted for the "politics of development."
The BJP leader further noted that Maharashtra saw two governments in the last 5 years. He stated that for the first 2.5 years, there was a "Black government" with no development and another government for the next 2.5 years with welfare politics done for all sections because of which the people voted for the Mahayuti this time around.
"The people of Maharashtra have reposed their faith in PM Modi's leadership, like the rest of the country. They voted for the politics of development. People saw two governments within 5 years...In the 2.5 years of the 'Black' government, no development work was done, and all work was stopped. In these 2.5 years, welfare politics for all sections were done, development works were done, and infrastructure was developed. So, people voted for us," Javadekar said.
He emphasized that the people voted for development and not with a narrow mindset. He said that he trusted the "common sense of common people" which made them win.
"I believe that the people of Maharashtra do not vote with a narrow mindset. They voted for development, and they did that. The pattern is different in both Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha...I trust the robust common sense of common people. They have made us win. We thank the people," he added.
According to current trends, in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Mahayuti alliance has crossed the crucial majority mark, as per ECI data around 11:00 am. Celebrations have already begun at the BJP's Mumbai office.
As per the initial results, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading in 126 seats and has won 3, driving the charge in Maharashtra. The Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena (SHS) follows closely with leads in 55 seats and 2 wins. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), led by Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, is leading in 37 seats with 2 wins, while the Rashtriya Yuva Swabhiman Party (RSHYVSWBHM) is leading in 1 seat. (ANI)
