Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], July 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi on Monday condemned the assault on Ratnakar Sahoo, the Additional Commissioner of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Sarangi said that such behaviour goes against the BJP's values and added that the law would take its own course.
In a Facebook post, Sarangi wrote, "We are proud of the ideology of Bharatiya Janata Party. This kind of behaviour is certainly not in line with the philosophy/ideology of the Party."
"I condemn this behaviour towards a Government Officer on Duty. The Law will take its course," the post further said.
Meanwhile, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) also raised questions over the law and order situation in Odisha after reports that a group of people allegedly attacked the Additional Commissioner inside his office.
The BJD alleged that the attack took place in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut and pointed to defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan as the mastermind.
In a post on X, the BJD wrote, "The law and order situation in the state is in disarray, the double-engine government of Odisha is failing miserably. A group of 6/7 goon-like individuals entered the BMC office and brutally attacked the Additional Commissioner. This incident occurred in the presence of BJP corporator Jeevan Raut. It is alleged that the defeated BJP MLA candidate Jagannath Pradhan was behind this incident."

The BJD further criticised the Chief Minister, who also holds the Home Department portfolio, for the rise in what it described as "goondaism and terror" in the state.
"This clearly shows that anarchy in the state has crossed all limits. Goondaism and terror have become daily occurrences. The Chief Minister, who keeps the Home Department under his control, should clarify why such a situation is arising in the state. Is entering a government office, dragging and brutally attacking a government official also an achievement of the BJP government?" the post reads. (ANI)
