Upleta (Gujarat) [India], May 2 (ANI): Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, who is also the BJP candidate from Porbandar, Gujarat, showed confidence during his roadshow in Upleta on Thursday, stating that the upcoming general election in Gujarat will be a "one-sided" affair in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Mandaviya cited the strong enthusiasm and support that the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoy among the people.
"The enthusiasm and belief that people have for the BJP and PM Modi and the way people attend my election campaigns, I can say that this is going to be a one-sided election in Gujarat," Mandaviya said while talking to ANI.
Mandaviya further added that he expects the BJP to win all 26 seats in Gujarat with significant margins. "BJP is going to win the remaining 25 seats in Gujarat with a margin of over 5 lakh votes," he proclaimed.
On Rahul Gandhi's remarks over PM Modi, Union Minister Mandaviya said, "You must have seen that there is disappointment in the entire Congress party and the opposition. Opposition has neither a leader nor any intention so in such a situation, the statement it makes is a statement of disappointment."
Rahul Gandh In a post on X, he said, "out of fear of losing in these elections, Modi has forgotten the dignity of the post he holds and is talking all kinds of things and claiming that the Congress will take away the 'mangalsutra' or will snatch people's rooms or buffaloes."
Mandaviya is pitted against the Congress' Lalit Vasoya, a former MLA who belongs to the Patidar community, in the battle for the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat. Before becoming a Rajya Sabha member, Mandaviya was elected an MLA from the Palitana assembly seat of Bhavnagar in 2002.
During his roadshow, the Union Minister also paid tribute to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Meanwhile, following in the footsteps of Mahatma Gandhi, who rallied a whole army of Satyagrahis and crusaders around him with his famous padyatras while leading the country's fight for freedom; Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on May 1 has made foot marches a central theme or feature of his campaign for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Seeking a term from Porbandar, the birthplace of the Father of the Nation, Mandaviya said he has only been campaigning on foot, as opposed to holding gilded roadshows, going door-to-door to seek electoral support for himself and his party.
Speaking to ANI on May 1 the sidelines of campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections, the Union Minister said, "I am contesting the elections from Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. As is recorded in our history, the Mahatma organised and took out several padyatras here. Since I am contesting the elections from this hallowed turf, I took inspiration from Mahatma Gandhi in making padyatras the feature of my campaign."
A total of 12 candidates are in fray for the Porbandar Lok Sabha seat and around 17 lakh and 94 thousand voters will decide their fate.
Polling for 25 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on May 7, with the counting of votes scheduled for June 4. (ANI)
