New Delhi [India], September 11 (ANI): Amid the political row over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks in the USA, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi levelled his statement as an 'anti national act'.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said, "This is an anti-national act. He should not do this."
He further questioned Rahul Gandhi about the importance of the latter's statement in USA.
"He is the leader of the opposition; he can say this in Parliament. What is the point of speaking in America?" Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said.
The statement came after Rahul Gandhi's remarks on BJP, Sikh community and reservation while he was addressing the Indian diaspora in USA.
Gandhi, who arrived in Dallas in September 8, also interacted with students and teachers at the University of Texas.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders also launched a scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi following his statements made in USA.
Sikh Prakoshth of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) stage protest outside the residence of Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on the Sikh community made during the US visit.
BJP leader RP demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi, saying that the LoP has defamed India on foreign land. "Rahul Gandhi should apologise. He used the foreign land to defame India and gave a statement about Sikhs: Sikhs are not allowed to wear turban in India, they can't wear a kada, can't go to Gurudwara. Has Rahul Gandhi forgotten the rule of his father? When in Delhi itself, many Sikhs were killed," the BJP leader said.
On Wednesday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh hit out at the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, over his remarks on the Sikh community and reservations, while terming his comments as "misleading, baseless," and "extremely shameful.
Taking a jibe at Rahul, the Defence Minister said it seems like while running 'Mohabbat Ki Dukaan (shop of love), the Congress leader has opened 'Jhooth Ki Dukaan' (shop of lies)
"The kind of misleading, baseless and factless things that the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is saying during his foreign tour are extremely shameful and hurt the dignity of India. He has said that the Sikh community in India is not allowed to wear turbans in Gurdwaras, they are being prevented from behaving according to their religion. This is completely baseless and far from the truth," Singh posted on X. (ANI)
