Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], April 16 (ANI): Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal said that the interrogation of businessman Robert Vadra in the Gurugram land case was just about scaring people, threatening them, and silencing them.
Speaking to ANI, Sapkal said, "This is about making people scared, threatening them and silencing them. They put pressure on a lot of people to bring them to their side. This is their modus operandi...But Rahul Gandhi and the Gandhi family won't be scared of anyone. This is a fearless family..."
Notably, Vadra was questioned for hours on Tuesday in connection with the Gurugram land case by the Enforcement Directorate.
However, Vadra, who is the husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, has denied any wrongdoing and asserted that he had nothing to hide.
On the prosecution complaint by ED against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and others in the alleged National Herald money laundering case, Sapkal stated that there were no chances of any irregularities or scams here, further stating that the government was scared of Rahul Gandhi, hence the push ED forward.
"National Herald was established by freedom fighters to let the country know about Constitution, about the sense of freedom, about how we go ahead together...There is no chance of any irregularities or scams here. But this Govt is scared of Rahul Gandhi. So, they have pushed the ED forward," Sapkal stated.
The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday filed a prosecution complaint (chargesheet) in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court against Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and others in the alleged National Herald case. Congress strongly protested the move, terming it "politically motivated."
Congress said it will hold a nationwide protest against the BJP-led government on Wednesday in front of Enforcement Directorate (ED) offices at the district level in respective states.
ED's chargesheet also names Congress leader Sam Pitroda, Suman Dubey and others, including several firms.
On the 'Sadbhavana Shanti Yatra' to be held in Nagpur, Sapkal said that 'Maharashtra Dharma' was under threat, further stating that the yatra was being held to enhance harmony.
"Maharashtra Dharma' is under threat. Harmony is going down every passing day. Incidents of violence are taking place every other day. Looking at all of this, harmony should be enhanced, peace should prevail, and everyone should go ahead together. This is what we intend and our responsibility as the people of Congress. So, shouldering that responsibility, we are taking out 'Sadbhavana Padayatra' in Nagpur too," the Congress President said. (ANI)
