Things to avoid when you desire car modifications

New Delhi [India], April 17 (ANI): The wish to be different from others leads humans to modify their cars in order to make them look more attractive, but not all modifications are legal. Some modifications will get you in trouble. So before you take your car for customization, you must know about those modifications which are illegal.
Using pressure horns
The most common modification in a car is its horn. People blow horns to draw the attention of the crowd. But the high decibels should not irritate others and create sound pollution. The Delhi High Court directed traffic police to forfeit pressure horns and modified silencers. This is done to curb the nuisance of sound pollution. Sound pollution or excessive sound can affect human health, wildlife, and environmental quality. The government has also banned pressure horns for environmental safety. The noise range for horns has been fixed 93 dB and 112dB, under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. So, avoid using loud pressure horns that have an intensity higher than the prescribed decibel.

Tinted headlights or taillights
This is another common illegal car modification that people should avoid. Cars using such headlights create problems for drivers in the opposite direction. The incoming lights disturb the vehicle owner. People tint the glass area of tail lamps which reduces the focus of light, resulting in low visibility at night.

Installing bullbars
Sometimes modification can result something more disastrous. It might give a fancy look to your cars but when it comes to safety, you can risk your life by installing extra accessories. Installing a bullbar is an illegal modification because it not only increases the weight but also blocks the airbag sensors. The airbags are meant to save someone from a deadly accident. If people install bullbars around the cars, the airbags might not open and it can lead to severe injuries.

Installing loud silencers and exhaust pipes
Many people love to customise their cars with loud silencers and for this, they change the exhaust pipes. But installing exhaust pipes that are fancy and loud is illegal in India under rule 120 of the CMV Act. Exhaust pipes are located at the back bottom of a car and act as a passage for the exit of high-pressure exhaust gases into the atmosphere. It can cause more air as well as noise pollution. Having a Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate is required by the Government of India under the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988. Such exhaust pipes may not be fit for a PUC test, which is mandatory to drive a car in India.

Body lifting kits
Body lift kits increase the body of the vehicle and are meant to increase the ground clearance. Even if you change the ride height, we don't make any changes to the alteration. Therefore a lift kit can be a problem and is hence illegal in India.
These car modifications mentioned above are illegal and often unsafe in some way. Changing the structure or integral parts of the vehicle can pose huge safety risks. (ANI)
