Indore (Bhopal) [India], November 22 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday said there is widespread support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following exit polls predicting an National Democratic Alliance (NDA) majority in Jharkhand and Maharashtra.
He expressed confidence in forming governments in both states, affirming public support for the BJP.
"Whether it is Jharkhand or Maharashtra, there is an atmosphere of support for the BJP across the nation. The exit polls indicate that the Mahayuti government will be re-formed in Maharashtra, and we are also winning in Jharkhand. The public is with the BJP," said Yadav.
Meanwhile, BJP leader Agnimitra Paul voiced similar confidence, asserting that the BJP governments in Jharkhand and Maharashtra would be established due to the developmental work carried out in those states, unlike in West Bengal, where she alleged that Trinamool Congress leaders monopolise housing scheme benefits.
Paul also stressed the importance of a strong central government, drawing parallels with situations in Palestine, Ukraine, and Bangladesh.
"We formed the government in Haryana, and we will do so in Jharkhand and Maharashtra too. The reason is development. In West Bengal, poor people don't get homes; only TMC leaders benefit. Women's safety is also a critical issue," she said on Thursday.
According to the Republic TV-PMARQ exit poll, the Mahayuti alliance could secure 137-157 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) may get 126-147 seats, with others gaining 2-8 seats. The Mahayuti alliance includes the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP, while the opposition MVA comprises Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP). The Matrize exit poll projected 150-170 seats for Mahayuti, 110-130 seats for MVA, and 8-10 seats for others.
Chanakya Strategies predicted Mahayuti would win 152-160 seats, MVA 130-138 seats, and others 6-8 seats. 'Peoples Pulse' exit poll projected a decisive victory for Mahayuti with 175-195 seats, while MVA was estimated to get 85-112 seats, and others 7-12 seats. The majority mark in the Maharashtra Assembly is 145. This election is the first in the state following splits in Shiv Sena and NCP.
In Jharkhand, exit polls suggested the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) might replace the JMM-led alliance. The elections, held in two phases for 81 assembly seats, indicated a strong showing for the BJP-led alliance. According to Chanakya Strategies, the NDA is expected to win 45-50 seats, the JMM-led alliance 35-38 seats, and others 3-5 seats. Peoples Pulse exit poll predicted 44-53 seats for the NDA, 25-37 for the JMM-led alliance, and 5-9 seats for others.
The BJP-led alliance in Jharkhand includes the All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United), and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), while the JMM-led alliance consists of Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist). Matrize exit poll estimated the NDA could win 42-47 seats, the INDIA bloc 25-30 seats, and others 1-4 seats. The first phase of polling in Jharkhand covered 43 of 81 assembly seats on November 13.
The results for all 81 constituencies in Jharkhand, along with those for the Maharashtra Assembly elections and bypolls in several states, will be declared on November 23. (ANI)
