Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], April 26 (ANI): Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari made strong remarks on Saturday, targeting Pakistan and calling for decisive global action against terrorism in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
Speaking to ANI, Pujari said, "Enough is enough. The fight against terrorism is not only in the Indian domain. It has become a worldwide phenomenon."
He urged for a united international front to combat the threat. "The time has come to take the battle to its logical conclusion and break the backbone of Pakistan, the most uncivilised country in the world," he added.
The minister further said," There is absolutely no scope for any country to make Pakistan understand that terrorism is not an option... Even after the surgical strike that killed many terrorists in Pakistan, they are not mending their ways. The time has come for the final countdown against Pakistan."
This comes after 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen were killed in Pahalgam on Tuesday, in one of the deadliest attacks in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike in which 40 CRPF jawans were killed.
Following the terror attack, the Central government announced several diplomatic measures, such as closing the Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari, suspending the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) for Pakistani nationals, giving them 40 hours to return to their country, and reducing the number of officers in the High Commissions on both sides.
"The Defence/Military, Naval and Air Advisors in the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi are declared Persona Non Grata. They have a week to leave India. India will withdraw its Defence, Navy, and Air Advisors from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts in the respective High Commissions are deemed annulled. Five support staff of the Service Advisors will also be withdrawn from both High Commissions," Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.
India also halted the Indus Waters Treaty signed in 1960 in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. (ANI)
