New Delhi [India], December 9 (ANI): Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal on Monday lashed out at the government and said that the House was only adjourning because the government didn't want to run the House.
Speaking to ANI, Venugopal said "The House is adjourned only because of the government. They don't want to run the House at all. We raised the issue and they adjourned the House within 10 seconds... The government doesn't want to hear the name of Adani in the parliament..."
Further he said that the parliamentary affairs minister made provocative and defamatory statements before the commencement of the House.
"Just before the House commenced today, the parliamentary affairs minister made a very provocative and defamatory statement. That is a new thing... the work of the parliamentary minister is to make sure the House runs and have discussions with both sides, but here him making a statement is a clear indication that they don't want to run the House," he added.
Congress MP Kirti Chidambaram said that the government must find a way to end the impasse.
Speaking to ANI, Chidambaram said "The government must find a way to end this impasse...The government should give the majority a chance to speak (in Parliament). They constantly do not give the opposition a chance to raise issues, which is not good for parliamentary democracy..."
Earlier today, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm amid ruckus in the Parliament for the 12th day of the winter session on Monday.
Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar said, "I find the functioning of the House because of disorder is not possible. The House is adjourned till 2 pm."
The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 12 noon earlier in the day after opposition MPs began raising different matters during the Question Hour.
Lower House Speaker Om Birla expressed objection to the opposition members and adjourned the House till 12 noon before adjourning the proceedings again till 2 pm. (ANI)
