"The curriculum for the new NEP is prepared and submitted to the govt": Dharmendra Pradhan

New Delhi [India], August 23 (ANI): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, on Wednesday said that the curriculum for the new National Education Policy (NEP) is prepared and submitted to the government.
The government has given it to the NCERT which has made two committees in it to examine it and prepare a syllabus accordingly.
Dharmendra Pradhan while addressing the media said “Under the guidance of Kasturi Nandan, the steering committee has prepared the curriculum for the new National Education Policy. They submitted to the government. The government gave it to the NCERT. NCERT has made two committees, National Oversight Committee and National Syllabus and Textbook Committee (NSTC).”
Union Education Minister also said that they expect the committees to prepare a syllabus according to the requirements of the twenty-first century for classes three to twelve.
“We expect both these committees to prepare a syllabus according to the requirements of the 21st century and based on original Indian thinking. We want them to prepare futuristic teaching and learning material for classes 3 to 12,” Pradhan added.
The National Education Policy was launched in July 2020 to provide a set of guiding principles for a paradigm shift across the education sector in India from school to doctoral level.
“The first orientation meeting took place today. We are confident that at a time when the world is expecting a lot from India, when the Prime Minister has shown the dream of Amrit Kaal to the nation, at such times, the new textbooks will fulfil those requirements,” Union Education Minister further said.
Earlier, on Monday, after meeting with representatives of different educational institutions and officials in Bengaluru, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that the Karnataka state government will form a new education policy scrapping the National Education Policy, 2020.
Deputy CM of Karnataka further said that states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala had already scrapped the policy adding that the Karnataka government will constitute a new committee to work on a new education policy for the state. (ANI)
