Telangana to emerge as "Sports Hub" in the country soon, says CM Revanth

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy strongly hoped that the youngest state of Telangana would emerge as the hub of sports activity in the country soon. The Chief Minister ordered the officials to take all necessary measures to promote Telangana as a destination for sports and games in the country.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 19 (ANI):Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy strongly hoped that the youngest state of Telangana would emerge as the hub of sports activity in the country soon, according to official press statement.
The Chief Minister ordered the officials to take all necessary measures to promote Telangana as a destination for sports and games in the country.
In a high-level meeting with officials at the Secretariat today ( Monday), the CM discussed the government 's proposal to establish a world-class sports university. The officials made some suggestions on the establishment of the Young India Sports University in Fourth City, Official press release stated.
CM Revanth Reddy asserted that every sport should be given priority in Young India Sports University and bring all sports and games training institutions under the purview of the proposed sports university, it stated.
The CM asked the officials to find out which sports are suitable for the country as well as the geographical conditions and physical structure of people in Telangana. Those who are enthusiastic about pursuing sports as their lifelong career will be identified and encouraged in those particular areas .
The Chief Minister wanted Hyderabad, which hosted the Afro-Asian Games and Commonwealth Games decades ago, to be promoted as a venue for the Olympics in the future.
Apart from conducting the Olympics in Hyderabad, the Chief Minister made it clear that the selected sportspersons will be trained by experts in the Sports University and ensure that all the trained sportspersons win medals in every sport.
CM Revanth Reddy directed the authorities to bring all the sports departments of all universities, government-run sports schools, academies and sports training institutes under the ambit of Sports University.
The CM suggested giving priority to shooting, wrestling, boxing, archery, javelin Throw and hockey, in which the Indian athletes will perform and win medals through rigorous training in the sports university.
All the facilities, including diet, that are required for training in the respective sports will be provided on par with international standards to the sportspeople at the university.
The Chief Minister also suggested that the teachers identify the students who possess skills in the particular sport activity at an early age.
Sports schools will be established in every Lok Sabha constituency to train the identified students . Though sports activity is being given top priority, the proposed sports schools will also provide regular education to the students.
The selected students will be offered training in their favourite sport, depending on their talent, by providing accommodation at the Sports University.
The CM directed the authorities to promote the Sports University of Hyderabad as the main hub of the country's sports sector and to take all necessary steps in this direction.
The officials have been asked to conduct a comprehensive study on the details of the athletes of the countries who won medals in the recent Olympics, their hard work to win the medals, efforts put in by the countries to encourage the athletes and training provided to them.
As the government already named Young India to the Skill University and the Sports University , the CM announced that the integrated schools that are being set up across the state will also be named Young India.
The Chief Minister wished the Telangana state would become a brand for Young India and ordered the officials to envisage plans to promote Telangana as the strong state of producing highly skilled sports persons in the country. (ANI)
