Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) [India], May 23 (ANI): Telangana Police has urged public not to believe in rumours about a kidnapping gang being active in the state.
Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Mahender Reddy on Wednesday also appealed people to not take law and order into their hands and attack innocent people in the name of suspicion.
Addressing media at the police headquarters here, Reddy said, "There is false news circulated on social media that some criminal gangs are active in Telangana. There is absolutely no movement of criminal gangs whether child lifters, burglary gangs, robbery gangs of chain snatching gangs."
The DGP made it clear that those spreading such rumours and forwarding such messages on social media would also face action.
The DGP also requested citizens to inform police on Dial-100 if they find anyone suspicious and assured that police will be available at the spot and take action against the miscreants. (ANI)
