Hyderabad (Telangana) [India] September 30 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samiti working President K T Rama Rao on Monday heavily criticised the Musi River Beautification Project, calling it 'scam' and raising objections against the demolition.
KTR slammed the proposed budget for the beautification project, pointing the Central Government's budget for the rejuvenation of the Ganga River and accusing CM Revanth Reddy of 'scam'.
"Instead of fulfilling your promises, you don't have money for that. But you have 1,50,000 crores for the Musi project. The central government only spend 40,000 crores for the 2400 km Ganga river. But for Musi River, which is 54 km, 1.50 lakh crores is being spent. If this is not a scam, then what is this?" KTR said.
KTR further criticised the demolitions for the rejuvenation project, demanding the demolition of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection (HYDRA) Commissioner's office.
"If demolitions had to be done, then first HYDRA commissioner's office should be demolished. It is on the nala. Secondly, the GHMC building should be demolished because it is also on Nala," KTR said.
"When Musi victims are crying here, where are your supreme leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi? Where are they now? They did a lot of acting during the elections. Whenever you vote for Delhi leaders, this is the state in Gully," he added.
"You talked about building houses for the poor. If the people knew that you would demolish houses, then people wouldn't have voted for you. When you do anything today, you are not facing the media, the officials are being put in the forefront. Why aren't the ministers coming to the media?" KTR continued his verbal tirade.
"Today, people are angry against you. They are scolding you. Don't go into those places, we are not responsible for anything that happens there. Don't go there even by mistake. Today thousands of people are being made homeless. BRS won't stay silent when houses that were built with all permissions are demolished now." KTR said.
CM Revanth Reddy on Saturday announced that historic buildings located along the Musi River will be developed as the famous tourist spots.
The CM said that the government is committed to promoting the tourism sector along with making Telangana a welfare state.
The State Tourism Department signed an agreement with CII for the restoration of several ancient Stepwells in Hyderabad.
Speaking on this occasion, CM Revanth Reddy said, "The government has taken up the Musi Riverfront development project ambitiously." The CM criticised the previous government for neglecting the numerous historical buildings, which have reached dilapidated condition in the city.
CM Revanth Reddy said, "The state government has taken up the renovation of the old assembly building and the state legislative council will be shifted to the renovated buildings soon. The famous Jubilee Hall, which is the house of the Legislative Council, has historical significance." (ANI)
