Telangana: Hyderabad Police Commissioner reviews Muharram arrangements

Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy reviewed preparations for Muharram 2024 during his visit to Bibi-Ka-Alawa here on Saturday.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], July 13 (ANI): Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy reviewed preparations for Muharram 2024 during his visit to Bibi-Ka-Alawa here on Saturday.
The team, which included Additional CPs Vikram Singh Mann and P Viswa Prasad, and DCP South Zone Sneha Mehra, inspected the route for the upcoming elephant procession scheduled on July 17.
"Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, IPS, along with senior police officers, visited Bibi Ka Alawa and reviewed the arrangements for Muharram 2024. The team, including Additional CPs Vikram Singh Mann and P Viswa Prasad, and DCP South Zone Sneha Mehra, inspected the route of the upcoming elephant procession, scheduled for July 17," as per a press release from PRO Hyderabad police Commissionerate.
Following the inspection, the Commissioner held a meeting with police officials at Purani Haveli office, issuing instructions on maintaining law and order, traffic diversion, and parking arrangements during the procession. The police are taking all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful and smooth conduct of the Moharrum procession, as per PRO Hyderabad police Commissionerate.
"The visit and meeting aimed to ensure that all aspects of security and crowd management are in place for the upcoming event. With Moharrum processions attracting large crowds, the police are leaving no stone unturned to maintain public safety and order in the city," as per the release.
Muharram holds significant religious importance for Shia Muslims. In India, the 7 to 8 crore Shia Muslim community, along with people of different religions, participate in large processions and tazias. (ANI)
