Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 26 (ANI): Demanding to fulfill the promises made to the doctors, the Telangana Senior Doctors Association alongside Junior doctors have unanimously taken a decision to boycott all the Covid related duties from May 26 except for ICU cases and Critical care units.
Speaking to ANI, Dr Anirudh from District Hospital King Koti, said, "They have decided to boycott all the Covid related electives duties except for the ICU cases and Critical Care Units until all their demands have been fulfilled. "The reason why we have decided to boycott our duties is that the government is not fulfilling our demands that we have been putting on the tables for the last 6 months."
"We have appealed the Government for separate exclusive Covid hospitals for doctors and their family members who are infected with Covid 19. Though they have given assurance regarding the same, non have been put into implementation till date," he added.
He further demanded the incentives that have been promised by the government themselves.
"Though a promise has been made to provide incentives of 10 per cent to the doctors, nothing has been provided till date, and further there has been no increment of 15 per cent to the doctors," said Dr Anirudh.
He further said that they haven't even been receiving salaries for the last three months.
"Without getting our salaries on time, without receiving any increment, and without having any incentives, how does the government expect us to work in such a pandemic situation," he said.
He further demanded an ex gratia to the family members of the doctor who lost their lives on Covid duty.
Further speaking to ANI, Dr. Nabi of King Koti Hospital said, "We have submitted a representation to the Director of Medical Education (DME) two weeks back requesting for ex gratia to the family members of medical staff who have lost their lives on Covid duties. Further, we have mentioned about the incentives that have been promised to us and further about the increment of salaries."
"Despite appealing to the government to fulfill our demands, the government has turned a deaf ear towards our demands and that is why we have decided to boycott all Covid related duties except for ICU cases and Critical care units," he further said.
The doctors mentioned that the rest of the Covid services including ICU and Critical Care Units will also be boycotted for May 27 if their demands are not looked into. (ANI)
