New Delhi [India], July 5 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the national capital on Thursday.
"Today I and the CM of the state met the PM Modi and Union Home Minister in the interest of the state of Telangana and also to request the rights that we got in the bifurcation act in the process. Mainly our first request is the coal mines which were kept for the auction. We requested the PM and the HM also to see to that. These coal blocks are being allotted to public sector undertaking and colleges...," he said.
He further mentioned that the demand has been raised regarding houses, schools, etc. for Telangana.
"We requested for 25 lakh houses. We also made requests regarding IPS cadre allotment and one IIM in Telangana. Former PM Dr Manmohan Singh in Parliament promised one IIM for each state but Telangana was not provided with the same. We requested at least one school in each district. We also urged the PM and the HM to extend cooperation to our campaign for a drug-free state," Mallu said.
On Thursday, Telangana and Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu met the PM and Home Minister here in Delhi, discussed several critical issues pertinent to the state and put forth several requests before him.
The key requests presented by the Chief Minister include allocation of coal blocks to Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), revival of Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad, sanction of defence land, fulfilment of promises under State Reorganization Act and a host of other issues.
The Chief Minister urged the removal of the Shravanapalli coal block from the auction list and its allocation, along with Koyagudem and Sattupalli Block 3, to SCCL. This is vital to meet the state's power generation needs, a press release from the Telangana government read.
Reddy also emphasized the need to boost IT infrastructure. The Chief Minister sought the revival of ITIR in Hyderabad to encourage the growth of new IT companies and developers. The project, initially approved in 2010, has been stalled since 2014. (ANI)
