Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], December 14 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Saturday participated in the "Global Madiga Day - 2024" celebrations in Hyderabad.
Addressing the event, Reddy said that Congress senior leader Rahul Gandhi had made a clear commitment during the elections that a positive decision would be taken regarding the Madiga community. He noted that the Congress party had outlined its policies clearly in the SC and ST declarations.
"Soon after the Congress came to power in the state, the government appointed lawyers under the leadership of Damodar Rajanarsimha to present strong arguments in the SC categorization case pending in the Supreme Court. The state government played a key role in the Supreme Court's judgement. The government also announced its commitment to implementing the apex court's verdict in the Assembly," he said.
"This SC categorization issue is as complex as the demand for Telangana's statehood. However, the government must make a decision that respects the aspirations of the people. Your argument has merit, and the government's intention is to deliver justice to the community," he added.
Reddy stated that a cabinet sub-committee had been formed to study the implementation of court orders, and a judicial commission had also been constituted to submit a report within 60 days.
"A cabinet sub-committee, headed by N Uttam Kumar Reddy, has been constituted to study the implementation of court orders without legal complications. Additionally, a judicial commission has been set up to submit a report within 60 days, which is expected in about a week," he said.
"The government has also appointed a scholar from the Madiga community as the Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University. This marks the first time in the 100-year history of the university that a VC has been appointed from a specific community," he added.
Reddy further mentioned that Pagidi Pati Devaiah had been nominated as the Director of the Skill University Board and that more opportunities were being provided to the Madiga community even before they raised demands.
"The government will not commit any injustice and will ensure the community receives its due share. It may take some time, but the government is committed to delivering justice," CM Reddy said.
"The role of the Madiga community in my political career has been significant. It is my responsibility to ensure justice for the Madiga community in this government," he added. (ANI)
