Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 30 (ANI): Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday condemned the attack on BRS Dubbaka MLA candidate Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and said that such attacks on BRS leaders and activists will not be tolerated.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MP, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy, was stabbed in the stomach by an unidentified person during his campaign in Siddipet on Monday, said Siddipet police. Reddy is a BRS candidate from the Dubbak assembly.
CM KCR in a press release clarified that there is no room for physical attacks in democracy. He said that it is a shame that they are resorting to the politics of physical attacks without facing a public verdict in the election.
The Chief Minister called upon the people, BRS leaders and workers to be vigilant against such anti-social elements during the elections. He said that attacks on BRS leaders and activists will not be tolerated.
The CM is on a tour of the constituencies and enquired with Minister Harish Rao about the incident.
He further ordered to take necessary measures to provide better treatment to the kotha Prabhakar Reddy.
Reacting to the stabbing incident, BRS working president KT Rama Rao alleged that the goons of the Congress party were behind the attack. He said that Congress is now resorting to physical elimination attempts of BRS leaders.
"I strongly condemn the murder attempt on BRS MP Sri Prabhakar Reddy Garu by Congress Goons. Desperate Congress now resorting to physical elimination attempts of our leaders in Telangana. This was of course to be expected with a 3rd rate criminal being made the TPCC president. Violence has no place in a democratic society and I hope the Election Commission of India will take serious action in this regard," KTR posted on X.
Prabhakar Reddy was attacked in Surampally village of the Daulatabad mandal.
"The BRS MP has been shifted to Gajwel and is now safe," said Siddipet Commissioner, N Swetha.
The Siddipet Commissioner further informed that the alleged accused has been taken into custody and further investigation has been initiated into the matter. (ANI)
