Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], Nov 21 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate from Chandrayangutta constituency Shehzadi has lodged a police complaint against an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) supporter for "threatening, humiliating and abusing" her in a video posted on social media.
Shehzadi is taking on AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi's younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi, in the ensuing Telangana Assembly elections.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Falaknuma Division, Hyderabad, Mohammed Abdul Rasheed, the police received a complaint on Tuesday night from Shehzadi stating that AIMIM supporter, Abu Faisal has posted a video on social media platform in which he is "threatening, humiliating and abusing" her.
According to the complaint, Faisal also warned her not to enter into Chandrayangutta constituency as Shehzadi is fighting elections from the BJP. "We are seeking a legal opinion on the matter and a case will be registered accordingly," a police official said.
The Assembly elections in the state are scheduled to be held on December 7 to elect members from 119 constituencies. The counting of votes will take place on December 11. The Telangana Assembly was dissolved prematurely in September on the recommendation of the ruling TRS government. (ANI)
