Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], June 2 (ANI): BJP's candidate from Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat, Madhavi Latha on Sunday visited and offered prayers at Somnath temple in Hyderabad's Aman Nagar area.
Madhavi Latha inspected a nearby drain after leaving the temple and expressed concern about a drain in Ganganagar's Yakutpura area that carries contaminated water.
She said that while the administration plans to renovate the drain, it needs to assess the living conditions of the residents before proceeding with the renovation.
Madhavi Latha said she plans to question officials about the renovation plan and the measures they will take to prevent contaminated water from entering homes.
"This is the Ganganagar in Yakutpura, this drain carries bad water. I don't understand about the administration, They want to renovate it, it's a good thing... but (the government) need to assess the living conditions of the residents before proceeding with the renovation... if the drain water overflows, it could lead to health risks such as dengue... We will go tomorrow and question the officials on the plan so that the drain water doesn't overflow into houses? ... If they don't do it, we will take permission from the government and lift a wall," he told ANI.
BJP's Madhavi Latha contested against four-time Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM chief, Asaduddin Owaisi, from Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency and BRS' Gaddam Srinivas Yadav.
This is the first time the BJP has fielded a female candidate from the Hyderabad constituency.
