Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 6 (ANI): Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageshwar Rao on Monday held a crucial meeting with the Managing Director (MD) of Cotton Corporation of India (CCI), state government marketing department officials, and ginning millers to discuss cotton procurement in the state.
According to the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Telangana, the meeting, held at the Telangana State Secretariat in Hyderabad, focused on various issues related to the procurement of cotton in the state.
The discussions aimed to ensure smooth operations and address any challenges in the cotton procurement process.
Meanwhile, a meeting was organised at the Medchal BRS district office under the leadership of District President and MLC Shambhipur Raju, following a request from BRS Working President KTR to take the "Due Card Movement" across the Medchal district to create awareness among the public about the "empty promises" made by the Congress government.
During the meeting, the leaders criticised the Congress government for making 420 misleading promises to the public at the time of the elections. They stated that the BRS party is taking the "Due Card" to the public to expose the Congress's fraudulent attitude and deception towards the people.
Earlier, the Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, and Rural Development Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced the formation of a dedicated team within the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to focus on sugarcane research in India.
This announcement was made during a national discussion on the sugarcane economy, which was organised by Rural Voice and the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories in collaboration with ICAR. According to Chouhan, this team will focus on the sugarcane policy of India.
During the discussion, the Minister emphasised the importance of bioproducts. He noted that while ethanol and molasses have well-established uses, new value-added products need to be developed to increase farmers' profits. During the event, he also underlined the potential of natural farming to help reduce fertiliser dependency. (ANI)
