Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], November 9 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday expressed strong confidence in Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav's prospects in the Bihar Assembly elections, saying there is a wave of public support for him across the state.
Speaking to reporters, Akhilesh Yadav said, "Tejashwi ji is going to win Bihar and form the government. You can see the public support he has been getting. People will not let any conspiracy succeed."
Earlier today, Tejashwi Yadav, the Chief Ministerial candidate of the Mahagathbandhan, expressed confidence in the alliance's victory in the Bihar Assembly elections on Sunday, stating that there was a "good" atmosphere in the state.
Yadav asserted that Bihar would vote for change during the first phase and again on November 11. He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of avoiding the issue of reservations in the state.
"Today is the last day of the election campaign. The environment is very good. The people of Bihar have voted for change, and they will do the same on 11th November. Whether it is the Prime Minister or any other minister, no one is talking about the reservation we gave during our government for 17 months. The Prime Minister has addressed 65% of the people's reservations. They should talk about what they gave to Bihar and Gujarat," Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal supporters sang and danced outside Tejashwi Yadav's residence in Patna on the occasion of his birthday. Posters of 'Tejashwi Yadav, CM of Bihar' were also put up outside his residence.
Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday extended birthday wishes to Tejashwi Yadav.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said, "Very happy birthday wishes to you @yadavtejashwi ji! May you remain happy and healthy -- we will definitely bring about change, employment, equality, and progress for the people of Bihar."
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, also extended birthday greetings to Tejashwi Yadav, wishing him a long and bright future.
In a post on X, Kharge said, "Former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri @yadavtejashwi, Happy Birthday to you. I wish you a bright future, long life and a happy life."Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin also extended birthday greetings to Tejashwi Yadav, praising him as the "driving force of a renewed social justice movement in Bihar."
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the first phase of the assembly elections in Bihar concluded peacefully with a record voter turnout of 65.08 per cent, the highest-ever in the state's history in assembly polls.
The voting was held on 121 seats spread across 18 districts, and a total of 3.75 crore voters were eligible to exercise their franchise in the first phase of polls. The second phase of assembly polls will be held on November 11, and the votes will be counted on November 14. (ANI)
