Technology and Bharatiya Bhasha summit concludes: NEP 2020 paving the way for Bharatiya language education

New Delhi [India], October 2 (ANI): The two-day Technology and Bharatiya Bhasha Summit, held as part of the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, came to a successful close in New Delhi on October 1.
The Valedictory session was presided over by Union Minister of State, Dr Jitendra Singh, who emphasized the significance of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in transforming the landscape of education in Bharatiya languages, read the Ministry of Education press release.
The summit aimed to facilitate a seamless transition from the current education system to one firmly rooted in Bharatiya languages, aligning with the vision of NEP 2020.
The focus was on charting a technologically advanced future for Bharatiya languages in education.
Speaking at the event, Dr Jitendra Singh hailed the introduction of NEP 2020 as a landmark decision that will address the challenges associated with teaching and learning in English, read the press release.
He expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for championing the cause of Bharatiya languages at both national and international forums.
Dr Singh emphasized the importance of showcasing all Bharatiya languages equally and looked forward to a future where writers proficient in the original languages would produce books on various subjects, benefiting a diverse readership, read the press release.
The summit, organized by the Ministry of Education (MOE) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), brought together key stakeholders from various sectors. Secretary, Higher Education, K Sanjay Murthy; Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar; Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Atul Kumar Tiwari; Chairperson NETF, Anil Sahasrabudhe; and Director, IIT Madras, Professor V. Kamakoti, were among the notable attendees.
Professor Sahasrabudhe presented a comprehensive report on the outcomes of the summit's sessions, emphasizing the importance of learning in the mother tongue to realize the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The summit was divided into three thematic sessions- Technology for Bharatiya Languages, Technology in Bharatiya Languages, and Technology through Bharatiya (Indian) Languages, read the release.
Each session featured technical discussions on leveraging technology for promoting and teaching Bharatiya languages, including topics like operating systems and software localization, search engine localization, machine learning, and speech recognition.
In addition to discussions, an exhibition showcased Bharatiya Bhasha technology products and applications developed by industries, government organizations, and startups.
The summit was part of the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav, celebrating renowned Tamil poet and freedom fighter Mahakavi Chinnaswami Subramania Bharati's birthday as Bharatiya Bhasha Divas, read the release.
As Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav continues to unfold, various events related to Bharatiya languages will take place in schools and higher education institutions.
