New Delhi [India], August 26 (ANI): Super 30 founder Anand Kumar emphasised that in today's fast-evolving world, people, especially teachers, must embrace emerging technologies to keep reinventing themselves and provide the best education to students, as per the press release.
Speaking at the OpenAI Education Summit, he said, "For any teacher, it is essential to refresh their knowledge regularly so they can deliver the best to their students. In these times, when technology and requirements are changing rapidly, Artificial Intelligence (AI) should not be seen as a substitute but as a powerful supplement for teachers."
Highlighting the importance of adaptability, Kumar added, "Change is the law of nature. If technology is advancing, we should not resist it; rather, we should adapt and move forward with the times."
According to the release, Kumar also cautioned that while adopting AI, one must ensure it does not weaken the creative and analytical thinking of the younger generation. "In such a situation, AI must act as a support system that activates and enhances the thinking capacity of the human brain, rather than replacing it," he said.
Meanwhile, on Friday, OpenAI announced that it would set up its first office in India this year, CEO Sam Altman said, while highlighting the growing number of ChatGPT users in the country.
Altman also stated that he would visit India the following month.
"We are opening our first office in India later this year! And I'm looking forward to visiting next month. AI adoption in India has been amazing to watch ChatGPT users grew 4x in the past year and we are excited to invest much more in India!" Altman wrote in a post on X.
Earlier in February, Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw had met Altman and discussed India's strategy of creating the entire AI stack--GPUs, models, and apps.
The minister had written on X that Altman was willing to collaborate with India on all three. He had further said that the OpenAI CEO appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of democratising technology.
During the meeting, which was attended by many startups, Vaishnaw had urged the startup community to develop unique solutions. The minister had also shared a clip of his interaction with Altman and the startup group. In the video, he said, "We are very soon starting a kind of open competition (for AI)." (ANI)
